Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about protecting your family's future.

General Questions

What is burial insurance?

Burial insurance (also known as funeral cover) is a type of insurance policy designed to cover the costs associated with a funeral and other final expenses. It provides a cash payout to your beneficiaries when you or a covered family member passes away.

Who can be covered under my policy?

You can cover yourself (the main member), your spouse, children, parents, and even extended family members depending on the plan you choose. Each plan has a maximum number of dependents allowed.

Premiums & Payments

How do I pay my monthly premiums?

We accept EFT bank transfers, ATM deposits, and cash payments at any of our branch offices. You can also set up a Stop Order with your bank using our account details.
Please note: We do NOT do debit orders.

What happens if I miss a payment?

If you miss a payment, your policy may enter a "grace period." If premiums remain unpaid for more than 30 days, your policy might lapse, and cover will be suspended. We recommend contacting us immediately if you're facing financial difficulty. Note: There are no refunds for premiums or any payments made to our account.

Claims Process

How long does it take to pay out a claim?

All claims are issued on Thursday on the week of the burial. Once all valid supporting documents are received, we process valid claims rapidly. Submitting a claim after burial might delay your claim due to investigation.

Is there a waiting period?

Yes, there is a standard 6-month waiting period for death due to natural causes. For Suicidal death, a 12-month waiting period applies. Accidental death is covered immediately from the date your first premium is paid and the policy is active.

Legal & Compliance

Is there a cooling-off period?

Yes, you have a 31-day cooling-off period from the date you receive your policy document. If you cancel during this time and haven't claimed, we'll refund any premiums paid.

How do you protect my personal data?

We comply fully with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Your data is stored securely and used only for policy management and claim processing. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

What is a PAIA manual?

The PAIA manual (Promotion of Access to Information Act) details how you can request information held by us. You can find our PAIA Manual here.
