PAIA Manual

Your right to access information held by Ngqongqoshe Funeral Parlour.

In accordance with Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA), 2 of 2000.

1. Introduction

The Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) gives effect to the constitutional right of access to any information held by the State and any information that is held by another person and that is required for the exercise or protection of any rights.

Ngqongqoshe Funeral Parlour is a private body and this manual provides the necessary information for requestors to exercise their rights to information held by us.

5. Description of Records Held

We hold the following categories of records:

  • Statutory Records: Incorporation documents, registers.
  • Financial Records: Audited statements, tax records, asset registers.
  • Client Records: Policy applications, policy schedules, payment history, claim documents.
  • Personnel Records: Employment contracts, payroll, training records.

6. Request Procedure

To request access to a record, you must:

  1. Complete the prescribed **Form 2** (available for download below).
  2. Submit the form along with the prescribed request fee to the Head of Body.
  3. Provide sufficient detail to enable the Head of Body to identify the record and the requestor.

Access will be granted if the requestor has complied with the procedural requirements and the information is required for the exercise or protection of any right.

What is the waiting period for burial cover?

There is a standard 6-month waiting period for natural death. Accidental death is covered immediately after your first premium payment. Death by suicide has a 12-month waiting period.

When are claims paid out?

All valid claims are issued on Thursday of the week of the burial. We aim to validate documents within 24-48 hours of submission.

Can I add family members to my plan?

Yes, depending on your plan, you can add your spouse, children, parents, and extended family members. Each plan has a specific limit on the number of dependents.
